Pride and Prejudice (movie)

You can watch it on Netflix or YouTube.  hellznrg recommended I watch Pride and Prejudice, but he meant the 1995 version.  Luckily I watched wrong version from 1980 which I think is much better.  I watched some bits of the 1995 version on YouTube which gives me a strong desire to punch Elizabeth in the nose.  I think modern culture is no longer capable of portraying Pride and Prejudice accurately, but we have the 1980 version which is quite good.  I did try to read the book some time ago and found it intolerably boring but the 1980 movie was a pleasure to watch and gives a realistic view of life in the time of Jane Austin.

I agree it's not much fun to read P&P in the original language... far better to read an "abridged version".. that is, translated into modern english. I was given such a version when I was very young and I proceeded to read it countless times... Anyway it is an interesting look at the patriarchal culture of those times, when there were well defined sex roles, men and women were introduced to each other and courted each other at balls, women were more feminine and men were more masculine..... etc
